GB deadweight pig prices (UK spec)

Updated weekly

The APP (All Pig Price) is the GB average deadweight pig price achieved by producers each week. The SPP (Standard Pig Price) is the average price for GB standard pigs, those that have not received a premium for the production system, feed regime or breed. The prices are collected from voluntary surveys. These prices are for carcases dressed to UK specification.

In the week ending 5 June, the UK-spec SPP rose by 2.19p to 152.31p/kg. This is the 12th consecutive week of growth, and puts the measure now 9.22p behind where it was during the same week a year ago.

Estimated slaughter at GB abattoirs totalled 173,000 head, down 4% on the week but up 12% on the same week a year ago.

Carcase weights stood-on from the week before at 87.92kg. This is 2kg heavier than the same week a year ago.

In the week ending 29 May, the UK-spec APP rose by another 1.31p from the week before to 153.81p/kg. This widened the gap between the APP and the SPP for the same week to 3.69p.
