Beef & Lamb Board Member




Richard is a third-generation farmer whose grandfather moved to south Hereford as a tenant in the late forties. He now farms in partnership with his brother and mother, running lowland and upland flocks of breeding ewes and aiming to produce all of his lambs off forage. This year he will be lambing 1,800 ewes in two blocks.


The partnership also run 120 suckler cows, with an emphasis on genetics and EBVs for both sheep and beef. The farm is also home to an Assured Finishing Unit and Richard grows a range of combinable crops and maize.


Richard has always been involved heavily in the Young Farmers’ Clubs and the local NFU, and is
looking forward to the new challenge of joining the AHDB Beef & Lamb board.
